Stained Glass Window Mosaic

It was great to finally have some time this summer to do some work on a mosaic. I have a small stack of old windows that were rescued from our family cabin at Hume Lake. After re-purposing a window last year with glass etching, I was anxious try my hand at a stained glass mosaic.

I was given a big bin of stained glass pieces from fellow artist and friend, Jeff Forbes. After sorting and cleaning the glass, I sketched out my idea and got to work. It was a perfect project for late Sunday afternoons in my patio! I started cutting glass into long thing splinters, combining shades of red, brown and amber glass to make the cross. This symbol is very important in my life. I wanted to demonstrate that the power of the cross can change everything, pushing out the boundaries and integrating every color and shape.

Email Newsletter Basics: Time to Get Started!

Get Started!

working on your laptop

Getting started with something new is often the hardest part. Don’t wait until you have compiled a huge email list or organized your contacts or come up with a creative content idea. Put a release date on your calendar and stick to it. Make sure you’ve started with these first two steps:

Step One: Create an email account with a service provider like Constant Contact. The positive response to your first edition will help you see the benefits and motivate you to continue.

Step Two: Export your list of contacts from your email or contact management system to a spreadsheet and upload it into your Constant Contact account. (If you need help, just give me a call!)

Compiling Content

I know, this is the part you’ve been dreading. Maybe you haven’t written an essay since high school ...

"Peace Of Christ" Etched Window

This is the story of an art piece that started as an old window and a simple idea and became a finished piece all ready for the art auction. Early this summer, while I was up at our family cabin at Hume Lake, after admiring the new windows that my dad had had installed, I wondered what happened to the old windows. It would be unlike my dad to throw anything away that had a remote chance of being reuse, repurposed, or recycled, so I had a feeling they would be lying around somewhere. Sure enough there was a tall stack of rectangular windows with the hardware stripped, ready for my artistic ideas.

SEO? Google that!

I just attended a very helpful Webinar on SEO (Search Engine Optimization). So I thought I would share a little of this useful information as a way to document what I learned and to be helpful to my clients. SEO is critical in today's marketplace. It is what makes the difference between your prospective clients finding you on the internet or not. If your website is fully optimized your listing will appear on the first page of a google search when someone searches for you by some of your keywords. Very rarely will consumers look beyond the first or second search page before clicking on the link that will give them the information or product that they are looking for. So it is critical...

Mura - Add to mailing list

How do I create a form that will add user's to my email mailing list?

Great question! This is how I did it:

  1. Create a mailing list using the "Mailing List" link on the left side of your site manager.
  2. Create the form using the "Forms" link on the left side of your site manager. Make sure that the first thing you do is use the Form icon on the tool bar to create your form (method="post") and then add your fields inside of the form. If you want the fields that you create to add into your mailing list, you must use the following field names: "fname" (First Name), "lname" (Last Name), "email", and "company"...

So you want a website?

You know you want a website, but now what? It's easy to get confused by all the options and the services that are offered on the web. Let me give you a few basics:

You will need to get three things to start with:

A domain name. This is the name of your website www.MyNewWebsiteName.com. It is also called a "url" and is what you type into the top of your browser to get you to a website. It must be unique in the whole world. . .

My Psalm 136

For our final Thursday night Bible Study of the season, Randy asked us each to write our own version of Psalm 136. If it's been a while since you've read this one, it's worth a review. The Psalmist takes the reader through the marvels of creation, the history of his people and then current events of his own life. After each phrase, he reiterates "For His lovingkindness is everlasting. This is a powerful reminder of how God's goodness and love is a constant through eternity past, through each day of our lives and into the unknown future.

So here is my own version of Psalm 136.

"Give thanks to...
